What movie camcorder should I use?

First of all if you are just beginning I recommend that you try to borrow a camera from somebody you know. In early films what and how you shoot is more important than equipment, so get whatever you can. Once you feel you have learned the basics and want to try more complicated shots and techniques, there are many great cameras to find. Here are three articles that talk about choosing a camera Article 1, Article 2, Article 3.

Another important factor is whether the camera is CCD which is a plus to have, or triple CCD which is incredible filmmaker quality.

Best Budget Pick

Samsung SC-D365 MiniDV Camcorder with 33x Optical Zoom $287 -  A great camera at a great price. It has a great sized LCD screen, great quality for price range, sufficient inputs and outputs, and very useful image stabilizer. It also has a great video light for capturing low light areas.

Great Value - Great Camcorder

Panasonic PV-GS300 3.1MP 3CCD MiniDV Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom - $500 - A 3CCD camera under $1000 is simply amazing, at $500 its a bargain. The image quality is unsurpassable at this price, great lens and stability features for filmmakers as well.

Most Affordable Professional Camcorder

Canon GL2 MiniDV Digital Camcorder w/20x Optical Zoom - $2,000 - This great 3CCD camcorder has many components reserved for professional cameras, but doesnt cost much more than a top of the line consumer camcorder. Its professional lens, optical image stabilizer, great audio, and many inputs / outputs make it the perfect filmmaker camera at a reasonable price.

Top Of The Line Camcorder

Sony HDRFX1 HDV High Definition Camcorder w/12x Optical Zoom - $3,333 - The absolute first consumer 1080i high definition camcorder available! You can record onto the HDV portion of the camera or switch to miniDV tapes. It has a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens, true 16:9 aspect ratio,  and incredible software is available.

Online Video Camera Store

To find other great Video Cameras and Accessories, I recommend you go to Amazons Camcorder Store and J&Rs Camcorder Store. They have a great selection of camcorders at low prices.
